On the Table brings together excited and passionate community members who share their ideas, hopes and the ways in which they want to make a difference on a local level. Following On the Table, we want to help make your creative and actionable ideas come to fruition.
Coming out of your conversation, we invite you to submit a short video featuring your table’s idea of an actionable task to benefit your community. It could be anything from planting a community vegetable garden to buying school supplies for a classroom in need; cleaning up a local playground to supplying dinner for a week at a local soup kitchen – what could you and your tablemates do with $1,000 to benefit your community?
Launched last year, the Acting UP awards provide small prizes to On the Table participants to help them implement their ideas, work together and take action for the public good. You can choose to apply for a $1,000 or $2,500 award, depending on your project, winners will be announced by June 30. Be sure to read the rules and guidelines before submitting your entry.
Here’s what you need to do to apply:
Participate in one or more On the Table conversations (You must be registered as an On the Table 2017 host or guest to be considered for an Acting UP award)
Create a short video (no more than two minutes) explaining your idea, how it would work and its potential impact – these videos can be shot quickly with your phone, no need to be highly produced. Check out our video hints and help sessions
